Morning sports fans,

 nailed it

See the two men smiling…one is Jokin Joe who called the bottom of the Iron Ore market and the other is Twiggy who managed to lock in FMG bond money at close to 10% a week or so ago…the rally in the rusty stuff is now 22% off its lows..a new bull market people…the shorts in the sector are going to be punished …FMG will head to 260 I reckon..

Meagre gains from overseas on Friday with the Dow struggling but tech stocks going gangbusters..Microsoft up 10%, Amazon up 14%…NASDAQ up to nearly 5100(0.7% up) and Zombieland shrugging off Greek Tragedies…

This week may be the week for 6000 and a quadruple top…not sure that exists but the resource rally is starting to gather momentum….the resource rally could be the breakout we have been waiting for…or another false start…whichever way I suspect this week will be a continuation of the buy resource /sell banks trade we have seen in the last few sessions….

Greed for want of a better word is good….

Idea of the Day-Mid Cap resources to shine?

Resources people!….there are a few out there..actually most which have been beaten and bashed to death. Especially bad are the small end of town which have been absolutely carted in recent years..now it’s not going to happen overnight but there are signs of life..

Stocks like BRU have rallied from 35 to 60,SBM from 7 to 38,KAR from 210 to 290…So time to pick over the bones…to that extent we saw a company called ERM on Friday…3 cents..its small ,speccy and for the brave but these guys are now backed by EVN ..another winner of a stock and have $5.5m of cash and stock and about to start drilling again after the Wet in Tennant Creek..I know Rob and his team having been up there a few years ago and they are in elephant country…lots of upside and not much downside…another one mentioned in the same breath was OEL which is an oil exploration company with huge cash reserves and some interesting projects..cash is about the same as the share price..

One of the great things about the last few years of austerity is that the survivors who come through the ordeal are stronger, leaner, more focussed and better companies than the fat ,bloated arrogant ,gonna last forever so why cut costs companies that went into the austerity years as Johnny Come latelys and coat tailed the boom…there is opportunities a plenty in this sector…stay tuned for more ideas…

Here’s another reason to like survivors…companies like SIR have shaved $30m off the cost of its Nova nickel mine under construction in Western Australia.

Things to make me go mmmmmm!!!

Chelsea draw with Arsenal…getting close to being champions!!

The bidding war heats up with M2 Communications lobbing a script bid at iiNet valued at $1.5bn….have to say having watched Netflix for a rainy Sunday and Gallipoli on Channel Ten,not sure why anyone would watch Commercial TV…the ads absolutely kill a movie like that and Netflix has such a great range of TV…I suspect the only thing to be left on 7,9 and 10 will be reality shows…and really does anyone watch these???

tv edeath

Weeds is my latest Netflix love!!!

Medical device minnow OncoSil plans to seek European regulatory approval for its radiation treatment for liver and pancreatic cancer, having passed a key certification milestone.

Foxtel is close to agreeing a deal through which it would take a 14.9 per cent stake in Ten Network Holdings…not quite sure why they would bother frankly!!!

Metals and Commodities on a rip….

Iron ore up 5.5% to $US57.81 per dry metric ton

LME copper up 1.5% at $US6030 a tonne

LME nickel up 3.9% to $US13,195 a tonne

Brent crude up 43 US cents, or 0.7% to $US65.28 a barrel

Well except for one…..Spot gold down $US14.97, or 1.3% to $US1179.00 an ounce

Was watching a thing on Australia Post on TV…now the bloke that runs it is paid a fortune..a superstar …however they are doing their dough on letters and parcels (thanks to Amazon etc) is the only thing keeping it alive…so you would think that they would have a good system in place to sort and deliver parcels..apparently not ..it’s a disaster with a new system to replace all those expensive pesky people weighing down his salary package, getting booted and thus no one to sort it out!@!!

New parcel sorting machines at Australia Post are causing havoc across the country’s mail network, with an estimated 40,000 parcels misdirected every day.

The new machines were installed late last year in Sydney and Melbourne at a cost to Australia Post of about $500 million.

Sure he is in for a huge bonus!!!

“Don’t forget me… pleassssssssssssssseeeeeeeeee… I’m on my knees…”

A Deutsche Bank manager implores a trader at Barclays to alter his submission for Euribor, the interest rate benchmark.

Greek negotiations now in Grimbo!!!Like Limbo really…Looking more and more likely to end badly…still can’t work out why they need to pay the interest to get more debt to pay more interest to get more debt to pay more interest….to get more debt…not sure this makes sense…but then these days few things do..

Chinese authorities trying to tap the brakes of the stock market …good luck…
