Morning sports fans,
Seems perverse that the US reported dismal jobs numbers way below expectations(first sub 200K month for eight months) but that is good and the market rallied…lower rates for longer…we are so addicted to the free money. It really is a mixed up world!!
Anyway looking forward to Obama’s plan to deal with IS to be announced on Wednesday…Ukraine cease fire holding….Iron Ore getting smashed…first casualties emerging in the global glut of supply…
Domestically we get the unemployment number here today…time to see if last months was an aberration after all…crunch time…expect another fine performance from Smokin Joe post the number though…
It’s the one year birthday for Mr Rabbit and what a year…glad the adults are back in charge..in the nick of time…no surprises either…thank god!
Don’t expect too much from our market though as we are starting to question the valuations of the biggest sector in the market…the banks…it seems weird that the reason that the RBA won’t cut rates is the property market …why not just put the heavy word(legislation?) on the banks about Lending Ratios and restrict mortgages and allow the RBA to cut rates and so get the dollar down…would seem to be a good thing for all..no runaway property market, lower dollar helping exports and lower borrowing costs for businesses…radical change for the RBA though to actually do something good for the economy …
Idea of the Day
Now I have long been a fan of G8 Education…our team here love it and so do I but on Friday I worked out that every childcare place was being valued at $67,000…seems a lot to me…anyway interestingly the baby GEM, Affinity Education is only being valued by the market at $23,000…now these guys have a way to go but does seem to be better value…let’s face it GEM could buy AFJ and immediately make a fortune!!!Another 120 centres to add to its near 400 they already have…
I am a buyer of AFJ at these levels…GEM is too rich now for my blood…
Things to make me go mmmmmm!!!
Gotta love this..don’t suppose it will catch on here though…China’s government said last month it will reduce salaries for executives at state-owned companies because “unreasonably high” incomes have become a source of public discontent. The biggest banks have pledged to implement the plans, part of President Xi Jinping’s campaign to bolster support by tackling government waste and corruption.
UK Government is in full ‘Howard’ mode as it seeks to bribe the Scottish Voters to vote ‘NO”.I have though all along that the vote would be close but they would ultimately bottle it much like Quebec and Australian Republic votes but maybe not..A UK without Scotland…would they change the flag? Will be a significant event if it happens..I have no Scottish blood but spent a lot of time there and love the place..Edinburgh is one of my favourite places..my best mate lives there and I even have a set of bagpipes and a kilt!!!Vote on 18th September will be so close…but I still believe they will not play the William Wallace card…Pound is under serious pressure…10 month lows..
Western Desert Resources has become the second junior iron ore miner to collapse in two months due to the plunging price of the resource.
US….No country for White men!
Not sure if I should be flattered but got accosted in the Dog park on Saturday by someone who recognised me from the Telly….felt quite special until I was quizzed about my thoughts on the banks and whether he should sell his banking stocks!!He didn’t want my autograph just advice….
Alibaba whose IPO could raise as much a $21.1 billion — has spent $4.6 billion on acquisitions this year in industries ranging from film production to taxi-booking services to professional soccer….if all goes well they could be valued at $167bn which is more than 95% of companies on the S&P 500!!!
And finally…….few to help ease the Monday pain…
I’m in trouble with the wife. We were in bed naked and she asked what would like to do most with her body.
Apparently “Identify it” wasn’t the right answer.
The wife has been missing a week now. Police said to prepare for the worst. So I have been to the charity shop to get all her clothes back.
A buddy of mine has just told me he’s sleeping with his girlfriend and her twin.
I said “How can you tell them apart?” – He said “Her brother’s got a moustache.”
Have a great Monday
