Morning sports fans,

Will keep this short today as I have smashed my right hand playing football and finding it hard to type!!Not a great performance by our team going down 8-0!!!Again!!!

It’s going to be a quiet start for the week..not much to go on from overseas but resources will be under the microscope again with the falls in the gold price and especially the Iron Ore price that hit a 20 month low of $91 and change…now everyone says that the price doesn’t affect BHP  or RIO cos they are low cost producers but I think they will be squealing like pigs… …better numbers from China may help a bit but we are all waiting for Super Mario on Thursday…”Whatever it takes” is now “Merda, I’d better do something! So let’s see what this genius comes up with as Zombieland stagnates.

Idea of the Day

I bought some LYC on Friday…the more I think about it the more positive I am on this one…strategic assets ,in production, cash in the bank,l imited possible opposition from the West on rare earth production and technology isn’t going to go backwards anytime soon..well except here as all the scientists leave the country!!Short term pressure will start to abate after the flippers have got out of their cheap 11 c stock in the SPP and placement…I am hoping for 20c in the next month…

Tax planning month ..just saying!! Hopefully LYC is not connected to that last thought!!

Things to make me go mmmmmm!!!

Here’s a question…why would you invest billions of dollars into a project to make a product that you don’t know what price your buyers will pay for it..why have that product priced by a bunch of speculators punting around…really is that your model…and you want us to lend you how much?

Intriguing news in DJs…I was asked on the TV Friday about Solly Lew’s move onto the register…bought around 0.9%…I dismissed this as just a sideshow but seems Deutsche is building  its stake too to around 6%…very interesting..suspect that the Blackmail motive is bigger than a new takeover but will make the vote interesting at the end of June.maybe there is more upside to come..not sure though why you would pay to[p dollar for a retailer with consumer confidence plummeting and GST inevitably going to rise….unless you want to spin out the property and cull the capital tied up in the biz..I am sure that Mark McInnes would love to get back in there….watch this space!!!

In more M&A activity looks like SAI Global has benefitted from throwing burley into the water after the bid of $5.25 they received from Privaet equity…they say there are more people interested!!!More fun and games…

KAR looks to have pulled off a good deal selling its Browse basin assets to ORG for more than $600m and another bunch of money on production. This chunk of cash is more than its market cap…shares back today..should imagine a serious rerating will take place!

Funtastic is changing the guard as the CEO pulls the pin and takes his toys and goes home…

The French Government is getting pressured to step in as BNP looks to be fined a record near $10bn over sanction busting…they suspect it’s all party of a cunning plan by the US to take out the opposition and ensure Goldman Sucks dominance for years to come…sounds entirely feasible…

goldman sucks

Also in the US they have released 5 Taliban prisoners in exchange for a 1 US soldier…apparently they do not negotiate with The Taliban or Terrorists just the Qatar government whohc then negotiates with the Taliban…probably how they got the World Cup too!!!

The biggest shareholder in Westfield Retail Trust, UniSuper, called for an overhaul of the company’s board in an escalation of the dispute over the future of the Lowy family’s Westfield empire. UniSuper chief investment ¬officer John Pearce said the board should be “totally, truly independent’’.

FOMC member Fred Plosser commented that the economy should get to 3% growth later this year. Yeah right!!!

China’s official government manufacturing PMI just printed 50.8 – its highest in 2014 and the 20th month of expansion in a row.

Also seems that the weekend security forum for Asian nations was not all peace, love and understanding…China is not popular as it flexes its muscles in the South China Sea. U.S. Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel described China’s actions in the South China Sea as destabilizing and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said Japan did not welcome dangerous encounters by jets or warships, Chinese Lieutenant General Wang Guanzhong broke from prepared remarks to call their speeches “unacceptable.”

How does Tony Abbott segue from the D-Day commemorations to the mining and carbon tax in a single speech…is this guy a total pillock?

In a horrible blow for GOT fans.. Peter Sunde, founder of file sharing site Pirate Bay, has been arrested following two years on the run after being sentenced to eight months in prison and fined several million pounds for copyright violations….over that show now..give me The Bridge any day…

Ann B Davis, who played the affable housekeeper Alice on The Brady Bunch, has died at the age of 88

And Justin Bieber is in trouble again for racists jokes…bless…

And finally……

‘Antiques Road Show’

Paddy took 2 stuffed dogs to the ‘Antiques Roadshow’.

“Ooh!” said the presenter, “This is a very rare set, produced by the celebrated Johns Brothers taxidermists who operated in London at the turn of last century.  Do you have any idea what they would fetch if they were in good condition?”

“…Sticks?” Paddy replied.

Have a great Monday
