First up sports fans, TLS has announced this morning a 9.7 % increase in profits ,guidance maintained and a Dividend increase!!!Ok its only 0.5c but it’s something..good stuff TLS…should cheer the market. A little anyway!
Great run continued yesterday for our market heartened by the power house banks and the unexpected Chinese economic numbers yesterday. So far reporting season has been ok…the good one always come first…have been a few shockers but generally its ok…we got so used to shockers in the run up to the season that we expect it…anyway here we are at 5310 having touched 5062..what a difference a Fed makes!
Expect a more modest day today as we digest news and the move up…Iron ore was a buck better so that will help. Gold also in demand so maybe NCM will reverse the falls of yesterday…we can only hope…
Interestingly all the Central banks appear to be singing from the same sheet..things are improving but not out of the woods by a long shot…what does this mean…rates lower for longer! Equity markets will continue to be the place to put money…use volatility to build positions in quality stocks ..oh and tomorrow I will teach you how to suck eggs!
Get used to more volatility this year…not going to be a one way street…
Ideas of the Day
Todays’ earnings will come from ASX Ltd, Goodman Group, GPT Group, Paladin Energy, Rio Tinto, STW Communications, Transurban Group, Telstra Corp.
Aussie dollar has been on the tear ever since the RBA meeting at the beginning of the month as the punters got caught short expecting more rate cuts….really…didn’t they get the memo that the Adults are now in charge in Canberra…with Tony and his secret society of Illuminati now firmly in control and confidence returning …mainly because we are all so in the dark about his vision for anything…low rates are helping consumer sentiment and business a like…unless you are in manufacturing..so expect the Dollar to edge back down again..I do not believe we will see any more rate cuts but hold for the rest of the year…punters and economists will call it up and down just so they can trade …
In stocks….my latest rave about UNS has not been too successful yet as they are suffering a bit as the dollar has increased..they do present at a conference in the next day or so ,hoping that will help them along…
GEM are going really, really well and those that hold should continue to do so as they head towards $4.00.

Over in the UK, Mark (circus ) Carney has upped his growth forecasts but said the recovery is not secured yet and will not just rely on Unemployment numbers to decide on interest rate policy..he will also use tea leaves and his astrology sign.

A bloke walks into a bar in New Zealand and orders a shandy.
All the Kiwis sitting around the bar look up, expecting to see another Australian visitor.
The barman says, “You ain’t from around here, are ya?”
The guy says, “No, I’m from Canada ..”
The bartender says, “What do you do in Canada ?”
The guy says, “I’m a taxidermist.”
The bartender says, “A tixidermist? What the hick is a tixidermist?
Do you drive a tixi?”
“No, a taxidermist doesn’t drive a taxi.
I mount animals.”
The bartender grins and yells,
“He’s okay boys. He’s one of us.”
Have a great day
